Kisspeptin-10 calculator

Kisspeptin-10 is the 10-residue fragment (112–121) of kisspeptin-54. People have received it only in short physiology studies, as an intravenous bolus dosed per kilogram of body weight; the intranasal and infusion studies often cited for it used kisspeptin-54, a different peptide. Vials are 10 or 5 mg. The calculator converts a vial, a water volume and an amount; the one published kisspeptin-10 dose is listed below as reported.

Full research profile: Kisspeptin-10. For any other concentration, use the insulin syringe units converter.

Why the Kisspeptin-10 study doses are not converted to units

The published human studies of Kisspeptin-10 report doses per kilogram of body weight, not a fixed amount. Turning them into milligrams or syringe units would mean assuming a body weight, so this page lists them as reported and converts nothing. A fixed amount quoted elsewhere is not the same thing as a weight-based dose.

The dosage section of the Kisspeptin-10 profile explains the route, population and limits of each study.

Common questions

How much bacteriostatic water do you add to a 10 mg Kisspeptin-10 vial?

There is no single correct volume: the amount of peptide is fixed and the water only sets the concentration. For 10 mg, 1 mL gives 10 mg/mL (100 mcg per unit), 2 mL gives 5 mg/mL (50 mcg per unit) and 3 mL gives 3.33 mg/mL (33.3 mcg per unit). More water makes each syringe mark hold less, which makes small amounts easier to measure accurately.

What dose does the Kisspeptin-10 calculator use?

None. The published human studies of Kisspeptin-10 report doses per kilogram of body weight (0.24 nmol/kg bolus of kisspeptin-112-121), so they are not a fixed amount, and the calculator does not turn them into one. It converts a vial size, a water volume and an amount you enter into a volume and syringe units; the tables on this page show concentrations only.

What does one unit on an insulin syringe mean?

A unit is a volume mark, not an amount of drug. On a U-100 syringe 100 units fill 1 mL, so 10 units is always 0.1 mL; how much peptide those 10 units hold depends only on the concentration you mixed. U-40 syringes use 40 marks per mL, so the same volume reads as a different number of units.
