How Peptide Library compiles peptide profiles
Peptide Library's 208 peptide profiles are reference summaries of published research, public regulatory records and chemical registries. This page explains where each field comes from, how citations and identifiers are checked, and what the data cannot tell you. Last audit: August 30, 2026.
What a profile contains
Each profile in the peptide library is a structured record rather than an article. The fields, and their sources, are:
- Identity — name, synonyms, amino-acid sequence, molecular formula and weight, CAS number, and external identifiers (PubChem CID, FDA UNII, ChEMBL, DrugBank). Sourced from PubChem and the FDA Substance Registration System where an unambiguous match exists.
- Research summary and mechanism — written by the editorial team from the cited studies. Sentences describe what published work reports; they are not claims of efficacy.
- Studies and references — PubMed-listed papers (by PMID) and DOI-resolvable articles. Vendor marketing, forum posts and unreferenced blog articles are never used as sources for scientific statements.
- Regulatory status — FDA approval status, WADA (sport) status and market availability, taken from FDA labelling and approval records and the WADA Prohibited List.
- Research protocol parameters — dose ranges, frequency, route and reconstitution examples as reported in the research literature or product labelling. These describe study conditions; they are not dosing recommendations for humans.
- Vendor price snapshot — computed from public vendor listings; see below.
Citation verification
Every study linked from a profile is checked by an automated audit against the publisher of record: PubMed identifiers are resolved through the NCBI E-utilities service and DOIs through the Crossref REST API. The audit compares the stored title with the record's real title and flags any citation that does not resolve or whose title does not match.

Audit run on August 30, 2026. A verified citation means the identifier resolves and the title matches; it does not mean the study is large, recent or conclusive. The research summary states the evidence level where it matters.
Chemical identifier resolution
Identifiers are resolved by name and synonym lookup against PubChem PUG REST. Of 208 profiles, 149 resolved to a single PubChem compound (105 with an FDA UNII, 78 with a ChEMBL id, 50 with a DrugBank id). 59 did not resolve — typically blends, proprietary sequences or compounds without a public registry entry — and 36 returned conflicting candidates and are held back rather than guessed. Identifiers appear on a profile only when the match is unambiguous.
Regulatory status fields
FDA status is one of Approved, Not Approved, Investigational New Drug (IND) or Withdrawn / Rejected, based on FDA approval and labelling records. Approval is always for specific indications, so an approved product is still not approved for research uses discussed on a profile. WADA status follows the current Prohibited List. Availability records how the compound reaches the market (prescription-only, research-only, OTC / supplement, discontinued). These fields are reviewed when the underlying records change; the review date is shown on each profile.
Vendor prices and rankings
Vendor names, product listings and prices are collected from publicly listed vendor catalogs. Price per milligram is list price divided by vial size when both are known. Vendor rankings use reviewer scores and cannot be purchased; some outbound links carry affiliate parameters, which do not affect ranking or placement. Full detail is on how rankings work. Peptide Library does not sell peptides.
Limitations
- Much peptide research is preclinical (cell or animal models) or based on small human studies. Profiles say so where it applies, but a listed study is not evidence of an effect in humans.
- Protocol parameters reflect what studies and labels report and vary widely between sources. They are reference data for research planning, not guidance for use.
- Half-life, molecular weight and sequence are as reported in the cited sources or registries; marketed products can differ from the reference compound (for example, DAC and non-DAC forms sold under one name).
- Vendor prices change frequently. The snapshot on a profile is refreshed on a schedule and should be confirmed on the vendor site.
Corrections
Errors and outdated entries can be reported through support. The corrections policy describes how reports are handled and how profile versions are recorded.
