what do you guys actually use to store vials?

boring logistics question but it comes up. what are people actually keeping vials in?

things that seem to matter from what ive read: light protection, not having them rattle around, and not putting them in the fridge door where the temp swings every time it opens. that last one i only learned recently and it seems like the kind of thing that would quietly ruin stuff

The fridge door point is underrated. Door shelves see the biggest temperature swings in the whole appliance. Middle of a shelf toward the back is far more stable. The other one people get wrong is the crisper drawer, which can be humid.

Whatever container, each vial needs to be identifiable without picking it up and squinting. Most of the value is organizational.

And it has to survive you not thinking about it. Anything that needs discipline fails eventually.

Some do. Mostly for temperature stability rather than anything else.
